He started at Barclays in structured finance as student housing was first taking shape in the UK, arranging more than £500m of debt and equity funding for student and residential developers, then spent five years as Investment Director at Amro Real Estate and three as chief executive of Future Generation. He co-founded Home Is London, where the team has major London masterplans and close to 4,000 beds in the pipeline.

In HSBC’s investment banking division she delivered £650m of debt funding, then moved into the Chief Operating Office to implement the compliance systems behind client due diligence, at a point when scrutiny of that work had never been higher. She found the same pattern in property: a regulatory landscape getting heavier and more expensive every year, carried on spreadsheets, shared drives and inboxes, where nobody can say for certain what was agreed or when. She founded Certadian so the tracking and the proving happen on their own, and the judgement stays with the people paid to make it.

Nobody came into this industry to chase a consultant for a document. The tracking, the chasing and the proving should be done by software, so that people are free for the work that actually needs judgement.
